Tesla Electric Sports Car - The Engine for Your Race Environment
The Tesla Electric Sports Car is one of the most difficult cars to purchase. Imagine having to make a reservation for a car. And making that reservation requires a $5,000 down payment, and you won’t even know how much the car costs for a few months. That is how popular the Tesla Electric Sports Car is. The 2008 Tesla Roadster sold for a cool $98,000, and that does not include any options. Expect to pay a few grand more on top of that for floor mats, a stereo, and charging system.
So, why is it so popular? Is it the good looks? It certainly is breathtaking. Tesla worked with Lotus Cars to develop a moving piece of art. It is based on the Lotus Elise chassis which was later re-worked and given a skin made entirely of carbon fiber.
But what makes the Tesla Electric Sports Car so popular is that it is a fully electric car. And not just an electric car. It is a sports car, accelerating from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds while maintaining a 135 miles per gallon electric equivalent. Its top speed is limited to 125 miles per hour.
Manufactured in Hethel, England, the Tesla Electric Sports Car is produced in very limited editions – just 650 were made in 2008 - and only sold in particular markets in the United States. It is not sold abroad. Currently, Tesla Electric Sports Cars are only sold in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Miami. Delivery to an area outside of that (but within the United States) will cost an extra $8,000.
This is not only a beautiful car, but it is economical. It travels up to 220 miles per charge at a cost of less than two cents per mile and its all-electric status gives you an extra break around tax time. Of course, since there is no traditional gas-powered motor, there are no oil changes, and brake maintenance is virtually non-existent due to its regenerative braking systems. The only typical maintenance involved in ownership is the changing of transmission, braking, and cooling system fluids.
The Tesla Electric Sports Car is considered to be the only real electric sports car. It has received an abundance of awards – Forbes’ Best Car of 2006, Time Magazine’s Best Invention of 2006, Popular Mechanics’ Breakthrough Award of 2006, and CarDomain’s Most Exciting 2007 Car Launch Award. It’s unanimous – everyone loves this car! A true green vehicle for people who want to move fast and be noticed – the Tesla Electric Sports Car.
